Abstract:

This presentation offers an overview of the use of Artificial Intelligence in the video game industry. Unlike AI in other fields that seeks to optimize results, the main objective of AI in videogames is the player’s enjoyment, often seeking outcomes that are not necessarily optimal. Three major areas of application are explored: “AI that Plays,” “AI that Creates,” and “AI that Models”. These fields are analyzed from two main perspectives: their impact on the user experience and their role in video game production.
